FIRST THINGS FIRST - JOIN THE WORKSITE
Overview
The red permit is the first level of training which allows basic access of tools in the student shop as following
- Handtools
- Vertical Saw
- Horizontal Saw
- Disc & Belt Sander
- Orbital & Square Sander
- Drill Press
- Step Shear
Privileges
Access to the student shop from 10am- 8pm (with shop monitor present)
Usage of the tools listed above
Steps to Acquire the Red Badge
- Logon to the Student Shop Laulima Page
- Read the red level modules
- Watch the training videos
- Pass the red level test with 100%
- Make an appointment and complete the in-shop hands training
What are you tested on during the in-shop test?
- Knowledge on machines covered in the safety manual and safety videos.
- Your ability to work as a team to apply the knowledge into real time applications.
- Your ability to follow instructions from the ‘Red Level Permit’ video
- Your ability to read a shop drawing to create the test piece.
- Your ability to follow safety protocol and show initiative to help other follow the same safety protocol.
- Good communication within your group.
Because of Covid Safety, access and training are task base. There will not be one-on-one training for now.
