Who We Are
Rainbow Warrior Racing is a team of mechanical and electrical engineering students from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa dedicated to designing and building a high-performance electric vehicle for one of the most prestigious collegiate engineering competitions in the world. Over the course of a year, team members design, analyze, manufacture, and test a fully functional electric race car, prioritizing performance, reliability, and safety. The project culminates in participation at the FSAE EV competition, where Rainbow Warrior Racing aims to proudly represent the State of Hawai’i on the international stage.
What is FSAE?
Formula SAE (FSAE), founded by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), is an annual collegiate competition where university students from around the world work in teams to design, build, and race a small Formula One-style car. The competition consists of both Static and Dynamic Events.
Static Events
Static Events are those that do not focus on the car’s performance but are scored based on three team presentations. These presentations include the engineering design of the car, its cost and manufacturing, and a fictional business plan.
Dynamic Events
Dynamic Events are where the car’s performance is tested through various driving challenges. During these events, the vehicles are scored based on acceleration, maneuverability, handling, cornering ability, and efficiency.
