Welcome to the Mechanical Engineering Department within the College of Engineering at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. We offer degrees of Bachelor of Science (BS ME), Master of Science (MS ME), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. ME) in Mechanical Engineering. We have approximately 320 undergraduate students, 50 graduate students, and 19 faculty members. The ME program is accredited by ABET, the U.S. accrediting board for engineering programs. Our graduates have been actively recruited by the City and State governments, the US Department of Defense (e.g., PHNSY, NAVSEA, NIWC, etc), Hawaii industry (e.g., HEI), and national industry (e.g., Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, etc.). The ME faculty are actively involved in research and bring their expertise to the classroom.
The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science (BSES) currently includes concentrations in either Aerospace Engineering or Biomedical Engineering. This new degree, currently housed within the college’s Mechanical Engineering Department, is intended to increase the options for our students, providing an interdisciplinary education and a mechanism to cover emerging areas.
